Safia Hersi
 

The Basketball Coaches of Canada are pleased to announce Safia Hersi has been promoted as the Basketball Coaches of Canada Executive Director. 

​

”I’m so excited and gracious to be a part of such a great organization, working with Canada’s most renowned basketball coaches and staff will be an amazing opportunity to learn and grow.”

 

Roy Rana of the BCC added, “Safia brings an existing level of energy to the group and we know her passion of the game will allow the BCC to take another big leap forward with her and Mel taking the operational lead of the group.”
 
A recent Wilfrid Laurier University graduate earning her BSc double majoring in Biology and Psychology. Growing up a fan of basketball, she put her knowledge and enthusiasm in the sport holding the integral role as the Golden Hawks men’s basketball team manager from 2019-2021. 

​

Accountable for team services, digital marketing, and community relations, Safia has proven to be an asset in the gym and in the community. Bringing a well rounded skill set to the organization, Safia is driven to gain more experience in basketball operations with the goal of a career in professional basketball.

Brooklyn Groves
 

The Basketball Coaches of Canada are pleased to announce Brooklyn Groves has been selected as the Basketball Coaches of Canada Operations Manager. 

​

”I am so honoured to be a part of this growing organization. I am looking forward to working with and learning from such amazing Canadian basketball coaches. This will be such an invaluable experience.”
 
A soon to be graduate of Brock University, she will earn her Bachelor's Degree in Sport Management. Being an athlete her whole life, with a great passion for basketball, she has gained a variety of experiences thus far and is ready to put her knowledge and practical experiences to work.

Not only a passion for basketball but is determined to make positive impacts in the sport industry. This determination has lead to becoming the President of a student-run club called: 'Sport Helps Everyone Make Allies'. This club is bringing awareness to the unconscious and exclusionary bias in sport, specifically with women and socially diverse groups while simultaneously bringing awareness to the social injustices happening around the world. 

​

Brooklyn is excited to bring her skills to the organization with the goal of continuing to positively impact the basketball community from the grassroots level to the professional level.
